About Vera

Proving photos and videos are real in the age of AI-generated media.

AI-generated media is now indistinguishable from reality. Anyone can create photorealistic images of events that never happened, people who don't exist, or documents that were never written.

This breaks trust in visual evidence for journalism, legal proceedings, insurance claims, and social proof. We need a way to verify that media was actually captured by a real camera.

Vera uses Apple's Secure Enclave to cryptographically prove a photo or video was captured by a real device. When you capture media, we create a hardware-backed attestation that proves it came from an actual iPhone—not AI, not Photoshop.

This proof is synced to our servers, allowing anyone to verify the photo's authenticity—while your original, unbadged image never leaves your device.

What devices are supported?
Vera works on any iPhone running iOS 15 or later.
Can I edit verified media?
Any edit will invalidate the verification because the image hash changes. The verification proves the exact original capture—that's the point.
Is my location tracked?
Location is optional and you control the precision. Choose Off, City, Neighborhood, or Exact. We never track without consent.
What about privacy?
Privacy-first: your original, unbadged photo never leaves your device. We only sync a badged version and forensic metadata for verification purposes.
How do I verify someone else's media?
Visit veracam.app/v/{code} using the short code on the photo, or use our Verify page to check by hash or upload.
